But -oh!- which secrets may Instagram be hiding from me, being a Social Media guru as I am? You may think you know everything about this social network, but we are sure there’s still a lot to learn about it.
Do you dare to unveil the secrets of Instagram?
1. The maximum amount of hashtags per publication is 30
Yeah, crazy I know. We all have this friend who adds hashtags like a maniac to every post, defying the laws of etiquette, common sense and sometimes even physics. In fact, probably now you’re trying to find THAT post where he sure added like a zillion hashtags. But no, as you can check in their page, Instagram only allows 30 hashtags per post. Period.
2. Facebook’s ROI buying Instagram has been 3500%!
Again, totally madness, I know, but nevertheless it’s true. Some people thought Zuckerberg had gone nuts when he bought Instagram for 1 billion dollars. It turns out that by December 2014 it was valued in 35 billion. %^*# you Zuckerberg.
3. It’s the perfect place for sexual bots.
Instagram is one of the most successful channels for porn and cam websites to catch new users. One of the main resources for that is fake profiles (bots) that comment, like and follow male users in the platform.
4. If you’re a teenager, Instagram is the SM platform where you’re less likely to be bullied
We Heart It conducted a research about bullying in Social Media platform amongst teens. Maybe the most surprising fact is that 66% of the teenagers had suffered bullying through Facebook, but the one that interests us here is that Instagram seems to be the safer for them. Who would know?
5. It’s the fastest growing Social Media platform.
According to a study by Pew Research Center, Instagram is the fastest growing major Social Media platform out there.
6. Over 30? You’re old for Instagram.
In fact if you’re using Instagram odds are you’re a female African American teenager in the USA. You’re not? Blame researchers.
In fact more than a half of Instagram users are between 18 and 29, and probably some more are below 18 too (data from the USA). Starting to feel old? Maybe you should try with Linkedin, Myspace or something on that note.
7. Want to make a Instagramer happy? Take him to Dysneyland!
Maybe this one is related to the app demographics, who knows? But the most geotagged place in the Social Network is Dysneyland, in California. Other trivia related to geotargeting: half of the TOP 10 destinations are in United States, 3 of them in New York. The most geo-targetted place outside the states is the Siam Paragon Shopping Mall in Bangkok. Check the full top 10 list.
8. Their users love to #LOVE.
It appears that #LOVE, #instagood and #me are the most popular hashtags amongst the platform users. At least #yolo didn’t make it to the TOP 100. Better celebrate small victories, uh? Check the full list uploaded some months ago.
9. There are tons of apps and services around it.
Didn’t know it? It’s a jungle out there and there’s a lot of market for new Instagram apps, in case you’re interested.
10. National Geographic is the most followed brand.
Which is great news, since they’ve got some amazing wildlife and nature captions. For accounts, @Instagram is the most followed by far.

The island is public land, administered partly by the U.S. government and partly by the city under a proviso that no permanent residences or casinos will be permitted there. When getting into celebrities, Kim Kardashian, Beyonce, Ariana Grande and Selena Gomez overtook Justin Bieber. If it leaves you a bittersweet taste after knowing that the pubescent singer went down just to be replaced by the reality celebrity, you’re not the only one.
